Natural Desserts

Desserts are very popular in our food culture and finding tasty and healthy suggestions is one of the biggest challenges for nutritionists who work directly in food outside the home.

Natural desserts can be a great way to satisfy your sweet tooth while providing important nutrients. Here are some ideas for nutritious and delicious desserts.

- Fruit-based desserts, such as fresh fruits (berries, mangoes and melons for example) can be enjoyed as a simple and refreshing dessert on their own. You can also get creative by making fruit salads, fruit kebabs or fruit parfaits using yogurt or a sprinkle of nuts to add texture and protein.

- Greek yogurt with toppings is also an interesting proposal. Greek yogurt is a creamy, protein-rich option for a healthy dessert. Top with fresh fruit, a drizzle of honey or maple syrup, and a sprinkle of nuts or granola for added flavor and crunch.

- Chia seed pudding can surprise the public. Chia seeds are packed with fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, and antioxidants. Mix chia seeds with milk of your choice (dairy or plant-based) and a natural sweetener like honey or agave. Let it rest overnight in the fridge and in the morning you will have a delicious, nutrient-rich pudding.

Baked fruit desserts Instead of traditional desserts with a high sugar content, roasting fruits such as apples, pears, peaches or pineapples can be a good choice. Sprinkle them with cinnamon and a touch of honey or maple syrup and bake until tender. Serve them warm with a dollop of Greek yogurt or a sprinkle of nuts for a healthier dessert option.- Choose dark chocolate with a high percentage of cocoa (70% or higher), as it contains less sugar and more antioxidants compared to milk chocolate. Enjoy a few squares as a treat or combine them with fresh fruit for a simple and satisfying dessert.- Make original popsicles using fruit puree, yogurt or coconut milk. You can also mix frozen fruit with a little milk or yogurt to create a healthy, creamy “good cream” alternative to traditional ice cream.
